Growing flax in the Northeast


Flax is a new crop to the Northeast region, known for having high concentrations of Omega-3 fatty acids that benefit human and animal health; research has shown that livestock eating flax produce milk and meat with higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, precursors to hormones that help prevent cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammation. This video covers the results of weed-control trials by Dr. Heather Darby, director of UVM Extension’s Northwest Crops and Soils Program.
